Women in Science Workshop

Published in University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2021

Workshop to 25 high school women from across Nebraska as an outreach event supported by my NSF CAREER award and our NSF NRI project on Leveraging Environmental Monitoring UAS in Rainforests.

This workshop will focus on presenting coding and robotics as computing disciplines to allow high school women to understand applications of computing in the context of ongoing, cutting edge scientific exploration. Students will engage with scientific problems to engage hypothesis-based thinking, consider how to parse data in the context of computational thinking, and apply their skills to problems motivated by the Costa Rican rainforest to demonstrate their learning objectives.
